Re: Guests Welcome (that means YOU)

Well Pal, I have to say I sat back and read most of the recent postings with a lot of amusement. You are taking on some extreme adversaries. I like what you post and wish I had the ability to do the same. But I do enjoy what you write and would caution you that most people with your thought processes seem to vanish over time. I rarely post here because of various reasons which I won't enumerate now. But keep up the good work, you have these lefty liberals foaming at the mouth.

Don't get your Hopes up for Change...

Postby crux » 2010 Dec 24 09:42

Thanks Sam. I suppose we all can be a bit strident at times. I can overlook strident. Even silliness. Heck, don't we all live in and amongst outright bigotry and prejudice every day of our lives too?

I am sure that folks will come and go from this forum. People normally like to avoid conflict. They have better things to do.

Merry Christmas by the way....

Oh and you guests? Register if you please. Let's kick around a few other topics of your choice... Perhaps you wish to discuss that Incinerator. Or the fact that our RCHS has no detention policy. Maybe you would like to get a Progressive Book of the Month Club going and think Glen Beck's BROKE might be a real hoot...

That Library issue might be of interest. :joker:

...and a Happy, Blessed New Year to You as well!!

4. E mpty the Recycle Bin.
5. Your PC will ask you:
'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barrack Obama?'
6. Firmly Click 'Yes.'
7. Feel better?
GOOD!

Sam.........

You can try that, but my computer guru tells me that Barrack Obama is almost impossible to remove from your hard drive without crashing the whole system!

I bought our computer when they closed down the Bush administration and sold off equipment that was no longer functioning. There was a lot of it.

As I expected, the machine I bought only kind of started, consumed a lot of power, but would do nothing useful because it was loaded with useless information on faith based governance, creationism and anti-evolution pseudo science, tracts assailing gay people, climate "studies" authored by persons whose experience was in other fields, etc.

I deleted all that trash and installed a folder named "Barack Obama," and filled it with peer reviewed science data, with management and economic studies, and fact-based data.

It's been humming along smoothly ever since, even though some of the people who formerly used it keep throwing rocks through my window trying to break it.

I suspect you both have trojans and possibly a horrible virus and I hear my friends that infected computers will crash in 2012

Thanks for that, Cruz. Finally, individuals who might elevate the intellectual level of Congress, if they could get elected!

I think I have something here that will raise you one. Remember the flocks of birds that fell dead out of the sky in Arkansas last week? Here's the explanation:

We need this woman, now, in Congress!!!

Congress? I vote NO... That is pure nutty-ness, from my way of thinking. There are certainly loons enough to go around.

That's a lot of food!

Could it be true, oh so recently, that ONE MAN named J.K. Galbraith coined the phraseology, "conventional wisdom"?

Sounds implausible... But good morning. :wink2:

Senior Citizens

Postby Sam » 2011 Jan 18 19:07

Couldn't figure out where to put this and just can't resist sharing it. We need some humor here.

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement or
God out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance
from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism,
and remember those who have fought and died for our country.

Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner?

What about the last verse of My Country 'tis of Thee?

"Our father's God to thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's Holy light.
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King."

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand
at attention with their hand over their hearts!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party...... even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps.... with a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.

I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

I'm a walking storeroom of facts..... I've just lost the key to the storeroom door.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

Hey I just flashed on this... What I like about the idea of "God given Rights" like for examples, Speech, and Self Defense, is that THEY ARE INHERENT, and SELF EVIDENT or, NATURAL. It is to me the BEST DEFAULT position, even for the Non-religious or Agnostic, or atheist for that matter. Your Right, to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness does not DEPEND upon another person OR the government giving them to you. They just ARE.
...if you can keep them...

I'm taking a break from this place. I do not know how long the break will last. What I do know is that I am very tired of narcissistic folk who insist on having the final say on every subject.........and post like someone in the manic phase of untreated bi-polar disorder. I'm all for a lively exchange of ideas...........but I life is too short to put up with so much self-important, rambling diatribe from one person.

I have to agree with the post of Loverockbridge made the other day in another thread.............."conversation HOG". I don't put up with that from anybody else in my life and I'm sure as heck not going to put up with it from some anonymous, egotistical stranger,

Ya'll take care.

Do I ever hear you !?!!!

I think I'll join you.

But I do plan to be back – in hopes that even a very large gas bag will eventually run out of gas.

Gosh. I feel terrible.

I mean, if Amy leaves, how will that whole Library mess get worked out. She might be the only delicate intellect on the planet who could resolve the situation gracefully. I mean, those dern filters at the Goshen Library won't let me get on EITHER the Rockbridge Forum OR the Blackpowder Forum NEITHER!!!
(I was gonna research whether a patched ball would dispatch a deer at 100 yards, or failing that, just ask the Wise One)
And if the CONtessa goes, who's gonna "show me where to put my flag", or "where to stuff my sock", or tell me to "shut the H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS up"? ...or suggest I can have "no opinion on any subject" the Gentle Lady DEEMS...

My only comfort is that you both will be back! While you are gone though, take comfort in the fact that Trendy, The Giggler, RedNeck, 'coonie and Dubya1 will be here to hold down this Progressive Fort.

Me? Just an Indian armed with slings and arrows.

I can see two alternatives to all this mess.
One is to leave Crux with no one to talk to but himself.
The other is to run a little experiment to see if someone else can get the last word in on any topic for more than 35 seconds without being splattered with the mental onanism of someone who has turned the forum into his own little peep show.
I'd prefer the latter, since the forum was doing just fine before the coup.
Hence this note.

I'm sure there are more than only TWO...since the COUP...you......know who.

PS...sorry I couldn't get to you in like, 34 seconds...I will try harder.

Would love to say I am in Washington, but that ain't so. I happened to have a few minutes to get on the computer. My son was recently diagnoised with a brain tumor and our family is pulling together. Somehow all of this stuff becomes trivial when you have something of this magnitude hit the family. My feelings are still the same, just don't have the time to discuss much.
