Well, as usual, WiseOne, you said it better in 1/10 the space. Thanks.

Beauty Queens

Postby nudgewink » 2008 Oct 23 13:00

Sarah Palin is not the only beauty queen gone all political on us. Our own Miss Virginia is pissed off by Republican remarks about the "real Virginia."

You don't wanna piss-off MISS VIRGINIA!

Latest on the Palin parade is that her make-up/fashion person is being paid more than McCain's national security adviser.

Gotta give it to those folks -- They don't make much sense, but at least they got their priorities straight...

I guess I have no problem with that. Compare the results achieved by each.

To answer the original question, I look at both people and where they line up on the main issues facing my life. I don't give a rip about anyone else, just me and how it will affect me. In a perfect world, the primaries would all be held on one day with all the candidates. Top one in each party goes to the election in November. Oh heck, I feel benevolent. The top two in each party can go duke it out at the convention to see who gets the nod. But for goodness sake, do away with the Electoral College!

Texas A&M's Young Conservatives of Texas encouraged students to throw eggs at a picture of Barack Obama. KBTX reports

Ah, those young republicans! Always coming up with new, mature ways to address the issues.

I did my duty, exercised my rights, and voted for the minority women. I must admit, that in the last few days, I was almost swayed to voting for Obama. But standing in the voting booth today, I had to listen to my conscience. The only glaring difference I could find between myself and my candidate of choice was "reparations for slavery." I can understand why some think that is a vastly important thing, but in the bigger picture, it really isn't that important. I think that is something that will eventually fade away as America looks realistically at the massive job ahead of all of us.

My hope is that folks voted intelligently today and listened to that still, small voice inside of themselves and didn't allow themselves to fall prey to the fear. I can only hope. I was saddened to learn that a number of my friends voted the McCain/Palin ticket. They fell for the rumors, innuendo, and falsehoods that have been spread far and wide by the Republican Party and the establishment media. But, that was their choice and I hope they don't regret that choice.

Now, before you go off blathering about my vote being wasted and handing Virginia to McCain, think about this. The only wasted vote is the one not cast. The folks that vote today at least care enough about the state of the nation to voice a choice. The ones that didn't......................showed their apathy and utter disregard for their fellow citizens. I have friends and colleagues that fall into that latter category today and that makes me furious. These are the same folks who will be complaining and whining the loudest for the next 4 years........the ones for which I have a handy roll of duct tape.

In all seriousness, may the best candidate win today. A million thanks to all who took the time to vote!!
