The yearly sales tax holiday is coming up soon, and there are lots of things on there that many of us buy and use regularly. Just spreading the word...

No, PL!

It's just that I got no money to go out and buy stuff..... property taxes took it all. Gotta keep the school buses running, and while that may be socialism in some circles round here, I figure it's worth it to smarten up them kids a bit.

No foe here. I'm rowing the same sort of boat as 'dawg..............just plunked down a sizable chunk of money to the college for my daughter...plus books.......plus Personal Property tax. I'll have to wait for the next tax holiday.

Whew- I didn't want to be sitting alone in mom's basement talking to myself... :wink2:

Now as to school buses, don't get me started...

Basements

What with the Weather uncertainties which prevail, a basement is a good thing to have.

I have a basement, but I'm not sure whether I'm more afraid of tornados or of those F^*#ing Spiders.

It is observable that the occurance of all things, from daylight saving time to the phases of the moon revolve around school bus schedules.

:tiphat: :tiphat: Hello everyone. I am a newbie to the forum. I hope I will be able to carry on some conversations with you folkes in a gentile manner. I would like to offer my view on your concerns and voice some of my own. As for the Sales Tax Holiday> my memorial weekend <was spent handing out reminders to shoppers at the local LOWES, that special items on a checklist for preparedness would be void of state sales tax and that they should take advantage of stocking up on what they could. Those that were able to do so came back to me and received a "special item" of thanks for wanting to BE PREPARED. It just so happened that the start of National Hurricane Awareness was also apart of the ad campaign.

I am a volunteer with C.E.R.T (Community Emergency Response Team) Neighbors helping neighbors during emerency situations or in time of disasters. I am a recent grad from a course design to refresh skills in first aid, fire prevention, and awareness of threats that could involve our community (floods, tornadoes, natural or man-made events and special features our community may be vonerable too).

:pompom: I enjoy getting the word out to the community that once their family is WELL PREPARED then help can be given to neighbors. This is a great stress reliever nowing that your family members are not going to be victims but survivers: and able to lend a helping hand to those in the community that need assistance.

I hope to be able to deliver afew reminders like >> Father's Day is a perfect time to get him a NOAA
Radio.

Welcome Pselden!

It's good to see folks making preps and taking responsibility for themselves in the event of potential emergencies. It's one of the fields I work in, and I usually am appalled at how the average citizen reacts during a crisis. CERT is a good program and step in the generally right direction, IMHO
