Crux, it's still too early to decide, but this is shaping up as the worst "lesser of two evils" election in my lifetime. I may actually sit this one out.

From my perspective, here's a guy who's got it together. If only we could believe politicians and if only he had a chance.

Sen. Rand Paul Plays Hardball

Well worth 15 minutes of your time.

Rand Paul has a chance if good people on the Left would just take a look. I think Walker has the best shot. I like the field. On the Dem side you have a corrupt white granny, an old outright socialist white grump, and guitar strumming sandal wearing buff white man. On the other side you have a couple Hispanic Senators, a private sector female executive, a successful governor from a blue state who not only isn't an elite college grad, he didn't graduate from a simple State U, and the conservatarian eye doctor and more of course.

Be careful with that sandal wearing buff white man slam or you'll hurt my feelings. :smile3:

Well now this is hooey if there ever was such.

I'm a bidnessman and we need bidnessmen just like me to run the country ... like a corporation. Yeah, that's the ticket.

PS. We made a good start by off-shoring their jobs, but let's finish what we started by off-shoring people themselves!

I tend to agree with the article to a point, specifically
Business and politics are separate spheres; they require different skill sets. CEOs are despots; they don’t persuade so much as dictate and they’re more inclined to fire those with whom they disagree. Presidents live in a non-zero-sum context, where cooperation is crucial and consensus is critical.
This isn't to say all CEOs are despots and none has the requisite skills to be president, but having to work with Congress and foreign leaders on a regular basis is critical, and compromise is not often a CEO's oft used approach to problem solving. I suspect Jack Welsh may have been the archetype for what the author had in mind. OTOH, I've worked for a couple of CEOs who I think would have made good presidents, and a couple who wouldn't.

Oh Little Brother

There is no redeeming quality to the above post. None. It says nothing. Ted Cruz is crazy? Hardly true.

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Scott Walker all would be fine Presidents compared to Grumpy, Granny, and Gorgeous.

This is why it's hard to be a Republican.
Nevada's GOP governor won't run for Harry Reid's Senate seat

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval, who gave up a lifetime appointment as a federal judge to run for the Nevada office, said he liked the job so much that he was turning his back on a U.S. Senate bid that he would've been highly favored to win.

Sandoval's decision to forgo a run for the seat held by retiring Democrat Sen. Harry Reid brings the search for the Republican nominee into sharper focus and increases speculation about what the future holds for the popular governor once his term expires in early 2019 ....

Sandoval, 51, said Tuesday that he wanted to focus on improving Nevada's infrastructure and higher education system, and that the demands of campaigning or working as a senator would cut into time with his wife and three children.

Term limits will prevent Sandoval from running for governor again ....

Still, the popularity that won him 71 percent of the vote in November might not translate so clearly to the national Republican base, especially after his recent, successful effort to push a $1.1 billion tax package through the Republican-controlled Legislature.

"It's hard to be a moderate in that party right now," said David Damore, a political science professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. "He's taken a lot of positions that may be good for Nevada, but an outsider may not see them as such."

I voted for Sandoval the first time, when he ran against Reid's son. Sorting out the public education system was the big issue then and he did a good job. He's a serious, get-it-done politician with an outstanding track record, and works well across the aisle. He's head and shoulders above anyone in today's GOP clown car, and I think would be much more popular with the Hispanic demographic than Rubio and Cruz. Maybe someday guys like him can make it on the national level, after the current GOP base dies off.

Update: My wife tells me that more recently he hasn't done the right thing on fracking. This is super critical in a "dry" state like Nevada. Oh well, nobody's perfect.
