The heavy winged right, as we can readily see, has the ACA stuck in their craw. This will undoubtedly remain so for generations to come......much like medicare.
It is evident that they were consumed so with the idea of death panels, they failed to watch while republicans insisted on provision after provision which they then voted against anyway.
Why was there no public option? Because, as is obvious, the insurance company grifters needed placation. But, more importantly, this happened at the beginning of the Obama Presidency. At that time, there was no precedent for the extraordinary and uncompromising position held by the party soon to become known as NO!
Who would have believed they would have sunk so low as to place the safety, security, economy and welfare of the country second to the hate and spite they held for a president from the very first day he took office?
The fallacy....the blatant lie that republicans were not involved in development of the ACA is a convenient, but disingenuous one. It's likely one of the reasons why the ACA is as imperfect as it is.
The other important thing is that it was passed. Something that republicans will never do. The fact that it was passed with no republican votes seems to be something that, like an overgrown kidney stone, won't pass.
Are strict party line votes only illegitimate when democrats win them? Of late, they don't seem all that unprecedented.
