Where in Rockbridge Am I?

Postby nudgewink » 2014 Sep 11 13:17

Number 1. Winner=Coondog
Here's your first one:
The Answer (The great Natural Bridge of Virginia)
I'll be posting Google Map snippets, starting all the way zoomed in on a place in Rockbridge County, and later if nobody gets it, to successively larger zoom distances.

Your challenge: tell us where it is! (and send a link Google Map link that visibly incorporates it.)

Here's the a further zoom out .... you can get it for sure now.

Number 2. Winner=Coondog
The Answer (Stonewall Jackson cemetery in Lexington)
And here's the second one. I'll wait awhile and then zoom out if nobody gets it.

Could you make that last one any smaller?

We got Natural Bridge, Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, W&L Campus and Rockbridge Baths.

We'll need another five minutes on that last one!

Wow. You are sharp, Coondog. You must have walked over that world-famous swinging footbridge as I have. Natural Bridge, Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, W&L Campus and Rockbridge Baths knocked off, one to go.

A link to Google Maps verifying your finds are now in each message below.

I'll post a zoom out of the rest

Hint: All images are snipped from Google Maps.

OK!

If nobody else wants to play, Coondog will take you to the end of this scavenger hunt..... which ends at Lime Kiln!

Or, apparently it doesn't. Seems we get to go to Southern Sem, the log yard in Fairfield and the Home of Low Prices (The Big W).

:pompom:

Thanks Nudge, for the trip!

You are the champ. Answers to all (you're batting 100%) are posted next to each solved place.
I'll have to come up with something more difficult, eh?

No fair. Coondog found those places by scent.

Well, now you've made it too easy. Don't even have to check google maps to recognize the infamous Maury River dam at the Point of Jordan.

My eyeball tells me that there is a flaw in Google's image processing algorithm.
Notice the weird distortion that appears precisely atop Natural Bridge (Number 1)?
