Food for thought: How did all these folks get to Minnesota? There's a lot of Somalis in Augusta, Maine. How come? Might it be a result of our imperialistic wars?

So,

America's wars resulted in Muslim immigration, and immigrants of any religion from Somolia are indeed effed up, be they Christian or Muslim.
Our imperial war in Somalia, that was, right?

Afgainst those violent Jihadi Chirsians in Somalia. Championed by the United Nations and president Clinton. :hum:

Thanks. Now I see better? Islam is just another religion like all the rest.
All bad. Leads you to prefer an oppressively patriarchal society...

So I'm thinking like those quaker friends or them thar boodists. Yeah!

C, you wild man! So Islam IS the problem!! For example those chill peace-nics and chill party animals, those hot-spot Palestinians. :angel5:

An excellent, spot-on, laugh-out-loud summary of how we got where we are in the region:

3 Jihadists have now died in two separate attacks in America attempting to kill Americans who would draw a cartoon like the above.
The cartoon above is done by a former Muslim. Two strikes against Islam that incur death. Leaving the faith and drawing Mohamed.

Pamela Geller is a poster girl for self-serving instigation and hate mongering, akin to that Quran burning Christian pastor Terry Jones and the Phelps morons of Westboro Baptist Church who conduct anti-gay protests at military funerals. You should pick a better exemplar for your "victories."

You are wrong. Have you seen the award winning cartoon? Have you listened to her speak? Do you know she is taking on Jihadists, violent militant Islam and SHARIA? Do you know she has won a few key court cases upholding the 1st Amendment? You really aren't informed here.

To compare Gellar to the pastor that burns Korans, or to the Westburo Baptist folks is quite off.

You CONSTANTLY sound like a LEFT WING REACTIONARY.

Geller has noted what you perhaps notices about the Charlie Hebdo cartoons. They were vulgar, showing Mo' with a penis and balls nose.

Just look at her audience, primarily bigoted bubbas. Her organization's pedigree can be seen here on Wikipedia and it ain't pretty. I suspect she gets a lot money from Israel-related sources; see this article for additional details. Geller may not be quite as venal as Ann Coulter, but she's still a hate-mongering wanker.

Poll: Americans and Europeans differ on aid to Ukraine

MOSCOW (AP) — A new survey shows that Americans are less willing than Europeans to send economic aid to Ukraine, where the government is struggling to keep the economy afloat while battling Russian-backed separatists.

At the same time, Americans would be more willing than Europeans to use military force against Russia if it were to attack a neighboring country that was a member of NATO, according to the survey released early Wednesday by the Pew Research Center.

Our penchant for violent solutions is dismaying. Perhaps it's because we've been too insulated for too long from the horrors of war on our own soil.

Islamophobes and right wing fanatics like Crux have no handle on reality.

Here's a reality check. Add Charleston to the list.

Amy P. a caricature

That is a really silly article (hit job). TOO much is ignored, and to go back to Alan Berg 1984? Or this on the Boston bombers:

"Dzhokhar Anzorovich Tsarnaev and the late Tamerlan Anzorovich Tsarnaev (the Chechen brothers suspected in the Boston Marathon bombing of April 15, 2013) are both considered white and appear to have been motivated in part by radical Islam."

The Alternet is the new Daily Kos or the new Think Progress. I am happy to read but the the whole "crux is an ISLAOPHOBE/neocon" stuff?

Amy you are not a serious student of reality! Timothy McVeigh? This is silly guilt by association crap that doesn't stick to me or any one really, as all good people REJECT this kind of violence outright, speak out against it, and seek to empower all good people to resist it. Amy. Grow up.

Although they have a dominant market share, it would appear that Republicans have no monopoly on assholery.

The Roanoke mayor is an asshole and a Democrat, in that order. Xenophobia rages in the empty cavity intended for, but unoccupied by, a brain. This idiot amongst us learned nothing from the disgraceful history of our forced internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry.

It is amazing, and disgusting.

Here's what the Roanoke Times had to say about it.

Good news. The Roanoke Mayor walked back his error, giving a rather good apology.

Everybody makes mistakes now and then, so it's refreshing to see somebody admit and try to fix that mistake.

In a very classy move, George Takei sent a personal invitation to the Mayor to attend his Broadway show, Allegiance.
