Rattle Them Sabers, Baby

Postby Neck-aint-red » 2013 Sep 06 21:53

It tickles me to see the ultraconservative pack fall all over themselves to oppose a strike on Syria.

This has got to be the first time in history that this unholy collection of traditionally shameless saber rattlers has ever counseled something that, actually, makes sense.

Does it mean they've grown some brain cells, somehow attained a scintilla of morality, or learned something about foreign policy?

No. It only means that if that black guy in the White House is fur it, they're agin' it.

I totally guarantee that if Obama had decided that a military strike was inappropriate, they'd also oppose that decision.

The fate of our foriegn policy which, at this particular moment in time, may determine the future stability of the Middle East, the shape of events throughout the world and the safety and security of everyone on it..........rests with the Congress of the United States of America.

It gives Coondog a warm and fuzzy feeling all over!

Thanks for reinterating all your ideas, solutions and alternatives.

Obama's actions have Russia advocating confiscation of Syria's chemical weapons.

Mindless, clueless name calling exposes a firm grasp on.........nothing!

Oh I have said plenty. Obama did little one year ago to actually support the secular rebels, if there were any. Many have chastised him for waiting til the Islamists and Al Quieda flowed in. This was inevitable of course, but still.
I would stay out of Syria. I think calls to congress are upwards of 95 to 5 AGAINST Obama's plan to bomb Syria in some silly strike over the cloudy use of chemical weapons. It is not clear who touched off the chems...

I would go for energy independence in the next 3 to 7 years. CERTAINLY that.
Would you clowndog?

Read a little Noonan for perspective 'dog, or Dowd. Or watch this fun little parody video:

I don't think this too complicated. A couple days of cruise missiles will do little. Assaad might go down sooner or later regardless, and do you wish him replaced by an Islamic Caliphate?

Drill Baby Drill. Maybe we could avoid Bomb Baby Bomb. Yes, context matters...

Coondog would agree that unilaterally bombing Syria would be a bad decision. As I have said, if the rest of the world is wishy-washy enough to allow us to go it alone, then we should take our toys and go home.

That does not mean that the moral imperative doesn't exist to hold the government of Syria responsible.

That does not mean there is any doubt about who launched the chemical weapons in a continued, coordinated, simultaneous assault on 11 neighborhoods.

Aiding and abetting rebels, many of whom (as you astutely point out) are as bad or worse than than the current regime, is problematic.

Somehow this bumbling, secret Muslim, foreign born excuse for a President has managed to put the ball into Russia's court.

Brilliant!

So............

Stop looking for simplicity in a complex world! Your reasoning for bashing Obama because he should not do it, but at the same time, should have done it sooner is twisting you into irrational knots and your head will likely soon disappear up your..........and people will then confuse you with Shaun Hannity. :baby:

Energy independence does not change the dynamics! The neighborhood is shrinking and the neighbor's crabgrass always intrudes!

Energy Independence? OH YES...

Postby Crux » 2013 Sep 11 18:44

Energy Independence would have POWERFUL implications.

It would strengthen our own economy tremendously. It would lower gas and energy prices.
It would lessen revenue to Middle Eastern nations, and our dependance on and interest in them.

Sounds GREAT.

Sure it does!

And, all that could happen as soon as you figure out how to keep domestic oil out of the world commodities market.

(or whatever market it is that spikes prices whenever it rains)

Prime those pumps Baby!

Corn, why don't you look up the unemployment rate in North Dakota, or look into what entry level jobs are paying.
This level of production would lower our energy costs, BOOST employment significantly, and piss off the Sheiks!

Sounds good to me.

Sorry!

Coondog was informed that unemployment was due to 'Job Creators' suffering from lack of incentives and tax breaks under the Obama Administration's efforts to destroy the economy.

Yet, this recently from the Wall Street Journal (bastian of liberal propaganda?)

Some 95% of 2009-2012 Income Gains Went to Wealthiest 1%.

This article goes on to explain that the upper 1% have recovered form the economic downturn while the working class still wallows in the pre-Obama depression. So, why is there still unemployment at such levels? Why are not businesses and investors, flush with cash, not creating jobs?

Can it be that the reality of the 'trickle down theory' is as bogus today as it always was? Can it be that the entire conservative economic platform is totally wrong?

Well.......yes!

Unemployment, over time, is abating.....no thanks to the conservative efforts to stiffle economic recovery on the petty and triffling obsession to make Obama look bad. What remains.....and the prevalence of low paying entry level jobs is the result of inherent greed and republican obstruction resulting in income inequality remeniscient of the 1890's.

On the one hand, we're reverting to a feudal system and on the other we're claiming, due to our exceptionalism, to be the moral guardians for the entire universe.

Coondog :hammer:

Income inequality is the reason Syria is having a Civil War in the first place. (notice how the discussion of unemployment is woven seamlessly into the topic at hand?)

Power vs Force

Postby Crux » 2018 Nov 21 12:31

It matters in War, Defense, with SABERS and with guns. Potential vs Kinetic/Power vs Force. Vacuums and Voids get filled. The Left is NOT adroit at figuring out the differences. Not good with SCALE. Always making false equivalence and false analogy. Who the Hell is Hearwin too?
