Another "conservative" balloon pops.
There's nothing conservative about these guys. They are self-absorbed radical right wing extremists interested only in Number One, to hell with the public, and to hell with their shareholders.

An example of a truly conservative CEO? Warren Buffett comes to mind. He not only espouses traditional values, he lives by them.

Empty Democratic Critical Thinking

"The world’s top-earning CEO, Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison, took in $77 million worth of stock-based compensation last year, according to The New York Times, after refusing his performance bonus and accepting only $1 in salary (he made a stunning total of $96 million in 2012)."

Take that from your article as the prime example. Ponder Oracle's roll in Obamacare. Now DISCERN... ...blowhard...

Do you really not understand that if you own a quarter of the company and control its management, you would be a fool to take a salary?

Corrupt public officials deserve hard time and it gratifies me on the (too rare) occasions when they get a taste of what they deserve.

Tell us please why you would be a fool to take a salary? Salary and stock dividends, options, etc., are not mutually exclusive. There are many CEO's who own large amounts of stock and continue to take a salary.

The answer is somewhat complex but here is the core of it. Corporate and personal tax law is rigged in favor of the rich so that they can choose to take compensation in a form which yields a minimal tax rate.

Larry Ellison would pay a high personal tax rate on dollars that he takes in the form of salary.

The same number of dollars, taken in the form of stock options or capital gains, because of innumerable tax fiddles and schemes available only to the rich, are taxed at a laughably low rate.

It's happening all over again.

Elizabeth Warren and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ... we need you now more than ever. The usual scum (Capital One, Wells Fargo, etc.) are at it again, bundling trash notes into securities. Thus do they reap the profits now, and transfer all the risk to others, all the while screwing the poor and powerless.

A knowledge of reality is sometimes uncomfortable. But at least it's real.

I prefer being in touch with discomfort, rather than perpetuating myths and fairy tales, so we have a chance of doing something about it.

Here is an amazingly rare example of a holder of power and wealth and privelege who did the right thing.

Republicans who begrudge a few dollars for workers at the very bottom of the scale are heartless and wrong. Many organizations, of all types, have a tier of executives who are grossly and unfairly overcompensated.

Shaving just a little from this bloat, and redirecting it to paying workers at the bottom a living wage, would go a very long way to make things better for all of us.

Of course.

This is what they do, and voters are usually too dumb to realize it or to demand campaign finance reform that would cure it.

There ought to be a special place in hell for politicians who give away public favors in return for private gain.

Meanwhile, I practice darts on my Eric Cantor doll whenever I'm bored or angry.

Dumb Voters

Kos' graphic analysis of what is what:

http://kos.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=GtfJonFjmHHoyuujZBMY0e2a5K%2FeNK0v

If the terminally uninformed were to be exposed to such reality, would they suddenly become lucid, or simply slump back into the voting booth and mindlessly pull the "R" lever?

Following the money is easy if one just looks up. Statistics show that the rich and large corporations have become richer and the rest have become poorer since the republicans put a strangle hold on government spending. We continue to be told that the rich people and corporations will create jobs if they get to keep all this money. If so, why are they not doing just that?

Because it does not work that way. Never has. Never will. What they have done is create more wealth for their already wealthy buddies at our expense. Always have. Always will.

By now you know the IRS was used as a weapon.

Postby Crux » 2014 Sep 10 08:20

Used as a political tool by Democrats to come down on Conservatives, Tea Party types, Patriot groups, you know,
groups that hap key words in their names like "conservative" "tea party" or "patriot".

This from Sheryl Attkisson

Do we read beyond the headlines....or simply assume the feeble minded citizenry won't bother to finish the article.

Having a conversation with anyone who refuses to admit that IRS selectivity concerning groups claiming to be "social welfare organizations"
were aimed at both conservative and liberal applicants....is a waste of time.

To assert, or suggest that ONLY conservative groups were targeted (for some kind of political strong arm purposes) is a blatant lie which might be blindly received in some quarters prone to absorption of half truths and propaganda, but not here on this forum where sophisticated, intelligent people can't be hoodwinked.

Why anyone would try and try again to foist such ridiculous nonsense upon folks who know better is quizzical to say the least.

Silly pooch. No biscuit for you today.

The facts have nothing to do with it. In the IRS case, in Benghazi, etc. ad nauseam, it's the ideological meme that prevails.

If the facts do not conform to the meme, well, simple. Alter the facts! There are plenty of people who will say 'most anything for their ten minutes on Fox-TV.
