It is a distinct pleasure to give the stage to a Republican, one of the few willing to repudiate the lunatic fringe to do the honorable and smart thing. (sorry for the ad)

Linking to THE NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR, an ICONIC tea party governor in some definitive respects, who makes a couple criticisms you appreciate, all after sitting through an Exxon advertisement touting America as having the largest know oil reserves in the world!!!

Thanks for that. Try this: http://www.iviewtube.com/v/151141/nj-go ... l-reporter

Listen close to the kind governor who you probably think is "failing to govern" or making New Jersey "ungovernable".

I tried to look at the postings but found it hard to follow them -- "crux" for example seems to use "socialist" to mean anyone (s)he doesn't like. I spent time in the Soviet Union, in the old Yugoslavia, with Socialist Party members in Japan, and even communists in numbers of countries. That end of the political spectrum simply doesn't exist in the US. Obama's economic policies are almost identical to those of Bush -- he is to the right of the Republican Party of the 1960s.

Puh-leaze. If you want people to read, you have to write in English, not your own language.

You are so correct. But, puh-leaze, do not put us all into the dark corner that guy occupies. Other participants here are sharp as a tack, humorous, and very much in touch with the real world.

Maybe you've touched on a kind of inflation of language. Just as four-letter words don't carry the oomph or clarity they used to because of overuse, so also do the words you mentioned.

I knew some real socialists and you, Mr. Obama, are no socialist.

socialism/ attack watch

Postby Crux » 2011 Aug 06 18:42

Look. Take your pick. Socialism, or fascism. Look up the definitions. Think STUDENT LOANS, GM, the recent HEALTHCARE legislation that DICTATES TO THE PRIVATE companies what they must offer. Give me a little break JERK. Try to sound at least a little on the ball. Obama to the right of the 1960's, or ANY OTHER ERA republican(s)?

autosandeconomics wrote:I tried to look at the postings but found it hard to follow them -- "crux" for example... Obama's economic policies are almost identical to those of Bush -- he is to the right of the Republican Party of the 1960s.

Sheer STUPIDITY. Who the hell do you think you are? What utter nonsense... Try a little harder to pay attention.
,,,ok. Second Chance. Pick an issue or assertion where I said "socialist" and briefly explain why I am off base. YOU CAN NOT DO IT. I can not believe what passes for intelligent assertions. First it's 'dog with his wino v. billionaire/economic stimulus crap, then it is the arrogant one and his daily talking points which bear little reflection to tea party reality, and now OBAMA is more a REPUBLICAN that the 1960's GOP!!! This is pathetic.

Look Friend. I don't mean to get off on the wrong foot, but you might consider changing your moniker to autosonly, although you might demonstrate some knowledge there-in first. Seriously. Find a post where I used the socialist, OR fascist tag and you disagree with the usage IN CONTEXT to the flow of the thread and my post.
YOU CAN NOT DO IT, despite your :pompom: Amy. :tiphat:

The Commies are Coming!

Postby Juggler » 2011 Sep 25 11:04

Our world is being turned upside down. If the the world's most conservative country allows this liberal assault, can America be far behind?

The next thing you know commies will want taxes on rich people to be raised to the same percentage all the rest of us pay.

Intolerable!

The Lunatic Fringe - Examples & Comments

Well thank you for that Lunatic Analogy. You are clearly demonstrating something... Certainly not analogy. FYI. The wealthiest on average pay like 24% income tax. We have looked at the charts here. We have been over this. The wealthiest pay a higher average rate, than those of less income, and on down through the brackets. Show me otherwise. Cripes. You are mistaken.

http://www.ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays- ... taxes.html

Pay attention to the CBO. This will show you the nature of your false premise.

http://www.cbo.gov/publications/collect ... collect=13

So to sum up what you are not aware of.

-Actual average tax rates paid after deductions, are HIGHER as you look to HIGHER incomes. The wealthier DO pay more on average, than all other income strata.
-The wealthy pay the BULK of the taxes. The top 1% pays 40% of the tax, the top 10% pays 70%...

DUDE. Admit this reality BEFORE you peddle silly analogy.

Enlightenment?

Postby Coondog » 2011 Sep 26 13:23

I have to admit that I'm confused.....and would appreciate an explanation.

I have ever sought to understand the right wing. Why they believe what they do. I understand their viewpoint concerning many things. I don't agree with it, but I basically understand why they believe what they do.

Except........I cannot understand the enduring affinity for the rich. What is it about the rich that so enamours the consevatives? What is it that is so admirable that their station in life needs to be marginally protected....even at the expense of all else be it necessary? Is it their glitzy attire? The cars they ride in? The entertainment they provide at super market checkout counters?

I cannot seem to wrap my brain around what it is that makes 35% of the population so adamently opposed to relatively small tax increases on the rich.....or the loopholes afforded for their extravagances. Are business tycoons who pad their already exhorborant fortunes by laying off workers, soulless corporations, football quarterbacks, talentless rock stars and the permanently laissez faire entitled to that much more?

Because the poor, the unemployed and the elderly pay no taxes, the rich deserve parity? How so?

Surely we do not really believe that additional tax breaks for the rich will inspire them to open new factories and hire more people to manufacture more goods that no one has money to buy. If so, industry would be pumping out new cars, mattresses, and Popiel pocket fishermen at an astounding rate unseen in the 50 years that taxes are now lower than. And the supply would be swallowed up by demand unprecidented over the same time period.

But logic and reason aside.............what's so endearing about the rich?

Send me $500,000 in small bills (don't want this discovered or I'd have to pay tax on it), and I'll tell you.

This is IDENTITY THEFT?

Postby Crux » 2015 Jun 17 07:22

The curious case of Rachel Dolezal. Born a white woman to white parents. She "identifies" as black. She has always "felt" black.

She was an art student, who drew wonderful African art. She was given a full ride scholarship to Howard, and jaws dropped when she walked in. She has Chech, Swedish and German ancestry. She even had a fake adoptive Dad. Now Whoopi Goldberg affirms she is black, so...
What do you call her? Transblack? Does she have a mental disorder? She rose to be the NAACP Chapter President in Spokane, Washington.

Here are her parents: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRhwPNdwXpo

Here she is in Baltimore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSkHjWlHHOs

Well, they tell ya that you can be whoever and whatever you want to be in this, the greatest country on earth.

They told us a lot of things.

The big question is......why is this news? There are enough weird people right here in Rockbridge County to make a long running mini-series. So, why is this news?

A man bites dog story is always news. A similar story that would be given particularly heavy play in just the conservative news media might be some black person in Mississippi trying to pass for white so they could vote.

BTW, you don't see anyone here supporting this transracial idiocy.

A man bites dog story is always news.

We thought that was only true in canine circles.

Yep these stories are always "widely reported on". But what concerns one most is not how one reacts to such a story, but why? The fact that conservatives (crux & friends) want to make some sort of profound statement about it, it's about as socially significant as Kim Kardashian (whoever she is) farting in public.

The fact that people do react....passionately..... is of concern because these poor dumb bazterds need help and the mental health budget has been slashed well below the needed capacity to deal with this level of inanity.

Psycotropic medicines are woefully inadequate to deal with this sort of thing on a mass scale.

Kim Kardashian will certainly fart in public soon enough, this poor deluded hybrid will be forgotten and crux can complain that liberals aren't being consistently angry about the effect on air quality.

Already said too much on this stupid subject. Moving back above the fray. Coondog :dontknow:

This is far more interesting and OTHER than a "man bites dog" story. There, you called it "idiocy". I am impressed...
Except you have a white woman who really does seek to pass herself off as "down with the struggle" BLACK!
She was a CHAPTER PRESIDENT of the NAACP in Spokane! She sued Howard for racial discrimination!
Dozecal in that you tube clip of her in Baltimore looked like she made herself up to look black.
Her history of unproven hate crimes against herself is interesting. This FASCINATES.

I think I well proved my point, that this is WIDELY news worthy...
If this were a contest to score points AO would have lost.
