I have to admit that I'm confused.....and would appreciate an explanation.
I have ever sought to understand the right wing. Why they believe what they do. I understand their viewpoint concerning many things. I don't agree with it, but I basically understand why they believe what they do.
Except........I cannot understand the enduring affinity for the rich. What is it about the rich that so enamours the consevatives? What is it that is so admirable that their station in life needs to be marginally protected....even at the expense of all else be it necessary? Is it their glitzy attire? The cars they ride in? The entertainment they provide at super market checkout counters?
I cannot seem to wrap my brain around what it is that makes 35% of the population so adamently opposed to relatively small tax increases on the rich.....or the loopholes afforded for their extravagances. Are business tycoons who pad their already exhorborant fortunes by laying off workers, soulless corporations, football quarterbacks, talentless rock stars and the permanently laissez faire entitled to that much more?
Because the poor, the unemployed and the elderly pay no taxes, the rich deserve parity? How so?
Surely we do not really believe that additional tax breaks for the rich will inspire them to open new factories and hire more people to manufacture more goods that no one has money to buy. If so, industry would be pumping out new cars, mattresses, and Popiel pocket fishermen at an astounding rate unseen in the 50 years that taxes are now lower than. And the supply would be swallowed up by demand unprecidented over the same time period.
But logic and reason aside.............what's so endearing about the rich?
