Thus the difference...

Postby Crux » 2014 Oct 22 15:39

I simply disagree. In your bold statement above, you seem to think that we can not differentiate coverages based on the gender of the insured!
This is absolutely absurd of course, so something else is going on and it stinks. It is called by many names. Let's call it fascism or Socialism Lite.

Hysterectomy was available and I presume TURP too, through private insurance policies PRE-obamacare.

The argument is not "stupid", it is that we should have choice on what insurance we buy! Men and women need different insurance. It is as unreasonable that unnecessary medical procedures be done to us as it is that we be forced to buy unnecessary or unwanted insurance at higher prices. :2cent:

That, is called being REASONABLE. I don't get to choose on this one, I merely get to participate in mandated minimums, and LAMENT the Democrat ACA.

Well, Coondog (choke, cough) kind of agrees with crux on this one.

Yet, one supposes that Insurance is a bit like Cable TV. Everybody as to pay for all those channels like The Hamster Network,
otherwise, Hamsters would either be disenfranchised or have to pay out their furry little butts for viewing satisfaction.

Dobermans whine all the time about tail insurance. Sure, they don't have one, but, isn't that the way insurance of any kind works?

Hell, Coondog just tells them that if they don't like Kibbles, but still want the breakfast buffet, they have to pay the whole $12.95 just like every other pooch.

But wait.
Would you really want complete disaggregation of each and every sex-based health insurance claim, assigning full cost to one sex or another?
The cable TV thing is one thing, maybe an option to purchase a la carte vs bundle is reasonable, but health insurance doesn't quite work that way.
  • To first approximation, disaggregation won't make any difference in price. For example, if you pay only for male TURP insurance then the premium revenue will be halved because women won't pay anymore. All of the cost spread over half the premium payers means the insurance premium price must double, making the net result a wash. Similarly for female hysterectomies.
  • Yes, this example is just an approximation, true costs will be slightly different, but the cost accounting will quickly become a costly nightmare as green eye-shade drones argue over what the best cost allocation should be for thousands of procedures.
  • There is both efficiency and equity in spreading the risk over the entire population, regardless of age or sex.
When I was younger, my medical claims vastly undershot my premium costs, but I always felt that was fair since the certain implications of my own aging would eventually reverse the calculus. And so it has, and my medical claims at this point in my life now exceed my current insurance premiums.

This is the whole point of insurance ... spreading risk among many and spreading risk over time.

AO why you can't be nice all the time is a mystery. Now:

This is simply not true. When EVERYONE was mandated to pay for unnecessary insurance, PREMIUMS FOR MOST EVERYONE went up.

FOLKS PAID MORE FOR EXTRA COVERAGE. That is what has happened under the ACA. You are being dishonest AO... :shakeh:

You're doing the apples and oranges thing again. Yes, insurance pegged to a uniform quality standard covers more things and costs more than shitty insurance. Which means that although premiums for people who already have quality insurance went down or are unchanged, premiums for those formerly holding shitty insurance went up.

Duh.

Ebola... It ain't no big THANG...

Just wow. Something like 9 out of 16 Doctors with Doctors Without Borders who have contracted Ebola, have DIED, but this nurse with the same organization can't do a voluntary quarantine? She will not even do the 21 days, knowing that this might not be adequate in and of itself?

Now we read the State Department might be bringing non U.S. citizens INTO THE U.S. for TREATMENT OF EBOLA!!?

Thirdly our soldiers may be exposed to Ebola purposely? (Sent to build medical facilities in Africa not one of which has been built yet?)

Curious. One wonders, however, why all of the health care workers in New Jersey, New York and Texas hospitals who have had contact with Ebola patients are not quarantined as well.

Something special about this particular gal?

21 days might not be enough.

Postby Crux » 2014 Oct 30 21:18

She will not follow the 21 day CDC or the 41 day WHO guidelines, like the Doctor in NYC, who is now in hospital. He flaunted the guidance too.
If Nurse Good was a soldier she would have to follow the quarantine. Good lord... Remember that a large percentage of Ebola patients do not show almost every symptom. Some don't run a fever, EVER. Some don't bleed from the eyes. Some don't have projectile diarrhea, some don't this and that.

Here's a Halloween scare for you. The average American male has gone to seed because of overeating bad food, and riding everywhere in cars instead of using their bodies. Below are fascinating images of the Average Male in each of 4 countries:
I'm thinking of moving to Holland. Those guys are HOT !

Dear crux

You are absolutely right! There are probably dozens.....maybe thousands of Obama's Ebola carriers out there right now, and next Tuesday they'll all be going to the voting booths.

What you need to do is call up Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh so they can pass the word for their listeners to stay away from voting booths at all costs.

They won't listen to me, but they'll surely heed one of their own. You do have a phone? Call ASAP. Time is short!

Coondog :hiding2:

and, Coondog has it all over those wimps from Holland 'cause Coondog don't wear no skivvies!

The CDC issued a "sneeze warning" for transmission of Eblola, WITHDREW the guidance, and that conflicts with the WHO!

On voting, I will be voting for Gillespie on Tuesday. Not the Demoncat. I can't WAIT to vote for the loser, Ed. :tiphat:

Well, this is the year of my Obamacare adjustment upwards. Last year I was able to extend my coverage for a year at an increase of $600 for the year.
This year I get to ay for all those "essential benefits" for me and my children as MANDATED under the ACA. My yearly bill will go UP BY $4,000. No joke.

My wife and I are not yet sure how to cover this but needless to say life is going to be different. I am so disgusted by those of you that supported this.
