Interesting Cartoon!

But, regarding unchecked power: The new tactic for McCain & Palin seems to be spreading a new kind of fear......the fear that the democrats will have control of both congress and the executive branch. A "monopoly on power" as it were.

Funny....I don't remember any complaints from that quarter when the Republicans had it.

Then again.....that didn't turn out so well as I recall.

Wow.....what might they do? Listen to our phone calls? Insinuate that all who dissent are traitors? Attempt to ban books?
Abuse their power for personal satisfaction? Ignore the medical needs of returning vets? Ignore border security? Bomb yet another soverign country?

Who knows what those pesky democrats might concoct? And who's this Obama character, anyway? What is it we don't know about him after watching him 24 hours a day on the TV for almost 2 years? Who does his hair?

Coondog :joker:

And.....why is my nose always cold?

Yes, the Republicans just fire off in a new random direction daily ... amazes me that anybody buys it.

Here is an image that pretty well captures the character of the McCain campaign.

Bushie opportunists, as in everything they did, used the Patriot Act as a way to get their sicko camel's nose inside all our tents. Their credo? "The Constitution be Damned!"
Obama stirs revulsion in me for not repudiating this entirely, some of the most repugnant provisions.

We have a Pro Choice attitude towards Abortion, as to an under secretary of the DOE, but our Toilets don't work so FLUIDLY, and pretty soon, we'll HAVE to buy the more expensive, more intensive to produce, TOXIC, squiggly light bulbs from The People's Republic of China, that emit certain vibrations and light qualities that give a certain percentage of people HEADACHES and FOUL MOODS!!

Willikers, that Rand Paul is a real boob isn't he? The guy trumpets freedom for the consumer but this is not about freedom at all. No law stands directly in the way of a consumer. They are free to buy any obsolete appliance they can find on the market.

It does affect manufacturers of new product. And manufacturers like it because it gives them a single standard rather than 50 different state standards many of which were coming or already in place before these regulations preempted them. It saves us all huge amounts of money, energy, water, pollution etc.

That's a good thing but the crybaby just whines. He is too dumb to realize his so-called-freedom would just force us to send more money to foreign oil pumpers further reducing our standard of living. Let's be smart about getting the most service from appliances we can, refrigerators or light bulbs or toilets, at the lowest dollar, energy and environmental cost.

Buck I agree...

Postby Crux » 2011 Mar 11 07:53

...some of us have 1.6 gallon per flush toilets and all is well... Some folks find 1.6 gallons to be INADEQUATE to the task, and FEAR a 1.3 gallon mandate... Some folks search salvage shops in vain for the older 2.2 gallon per flush commodes. Some folks would like to still buy incandescent light bulbs, because CFLs give them headaches. Some folks can't really afford much more of this regulation towards higher energy costs...

So much of these good intentions come with unintended consequences.
Rising fuel prices and energy costs will hit who the hardest???
Estimated price inflation will cost families 700$ more this year, according to one blurb of a study I scanned recently...

How about all of the above and YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO BUY OR CRAP IN.
How about Peerless makes a toilet that works on 1.WHATEVER gallons and finds out if it sells... Water is a very efficient way to make turds flow through pipes afterall...

By the way, we usually only get like TWO different standards that manufacturers have to follow in manufacturing STUFF.

The Federal Standard and the California Standard... :crab: :crab:

Have a nice day and welcome to the forum Buck!(...pst...is that you 'cooon?)

Total inneptitude in the Middle East

Postby Coondog » 2011 May 02 13:04

Well..................................!!!!!!!

One less scumbag may be a drop in the bucket, but it's a start!

Now you can begin denegrating Obama over his not consulting congress before shooting the left eye out of Bin Laden or some other disingenuous, far flung hocus pocus.

The fact is, Obama is better by half than the totality of GOP contenders which is topped by an over stuffed, narcisistic blow-hard, game show host with bad hair and an aversion to any form of truth.

Gas too high for you? Why not talk to your buddies at Exxon? I'm sure they and their subsidized version of free market enterprise have more influence over gas prices than Obama. Blaming Obama for gas prices merely demonstrates how little understanding there is as to how the economy works........along with all the other cockamamy theories, foreign and domestic espoused by those too engrossed in conservative isolationism of ideas to admit that Obama's policies work.

Suck it up!

First off...

Postby Crux » 2011 May 02 14:37

...getting Osama is a direct result of Obama FOLLOWING the Bush Middle East policies, much to the shagrin of some on the Left. Gitmo intelligence, even (oh gosh) WATERBOARDING, and RENDITION played a vital role. Obama, give him credit, he ok'd a bold takedown of Bin L.

Gas prices? You are really not a serious person if you do not see the role our energy policy plays in high gas prices, not to mention the Fed's monetary policy of the WEAK DOLLAR, or the well documented AIMS of the Leftists like OBAMA.
Exxon and other oil companies PROFIT like 8CENTS on a gallon. Why do you not look at the taxes collected PER GALLON by the Federal Government, and report back.

And stop with the SUBSIDIZED line. Accelerated Depreciation is SOP in accounting.

So is the double taxation of profit and dividends...sucky as that is. The Government PROFITS from the Oil Companies PLENTY. :salut:

Well Folks, while I think Bin Laden needed to be got, killed, taken you name it, and I admit it was a gutsy call on Obama's part, it can't begin to make up for the health care bill that is driving physicians out of practice or keeping others from going into practice. Not to mention the costs to the people. That is a real sad case and one that needs to be wiped out. That is just a few of the things causing the national debt to go up. We are going under and it ain't gonna be the terrorists who take us under it going to be the huge national debt.

As for the blow hard witht he hair do, he needs to be taken out. He is a barrel of laughs and needs to align himself with the democrats. He certainly doesn't speak for me or many like me.

Cruxzilla!

It may actualy be all of the above. Oil Companies should not, by any market definition, be making record profits in this economy. Our energy policy IS a joke, considering we don't really have one that can be described in any known language.

High gas prices are, primarily, due to unregulated market commodities SPECULATION. Not Obama. Not OPEC. This is a financial problem. You can "Drill Baby Drill" til the ducks fly south, but that oil still becomes a fungable commodity and subject to the same speculative influences as oil from anywhere else in the world.

Since the greatest portion of imported oil comes from Canada....we might as well jusr invade them. Manifest Destiny! That would take a troop of cub scouts with slingshots. It would serve, also, to illustrate, by changing nothing, that it matters little whose back yard the oil comes out of.....and we wouldn't have to provide health insurance cause they already got it.
