A job, a good job...

There is a lot in your article. The opinion as written is DEPRESSING. It is one of the the criticisms I have of the Left. The Left is decidedly "glass is half empty" when it comes to America, it's history, trials and triumphs. The "American Dream" of a home and 2.5 kids and a white picket fence is not something to quaintly deride and lampoon. It is the stuff of FAMILY. Our precious children who are our hopes and dreams. The security of home and hearth; the peace and safety of a warm bed to lay your head upon after a full and hard day's work. It is the stuff of education, and bettering yourself. The expectation that your kids will strive and dedicate themselves to the family, and their own future. That white picket fence is the symbolic landscape architecture of diligent efforts and attention to the details...

A job. OK. A good job. That might be a matter of perspective. A friend of mine is an engineer, and now a teacher in a vocational program in Maryland. He transitioned to teaching after years of professional work within his field, because he wanted to teach kids. I remember him working at Wendy's, flipping burgers. he worked retail at a department store. He delivered pizza for Pizza Hut. Those were good jobs. He did NOT go to college right out of High School. He went on to Northeastern, outside of Boston. I can tell the tale of my friend who made it. He has the house and two daughters and a lovely wife.

I can tell the tale of so many of my friends who made it. We could examine the differences between a mere job, or an entry level job that leads to the next step, or expertise, self employment, learning a trade, or building a profession... There is POWER in our perspectives and our ENERGY...

I can tell the tale of my friends who didn't make it.

Our perspectives and BELIEFS and choices, yes CHOICES matter so much Fangz. I am not sure why you gravitate towards such utter hopeless CRAP. That article is a hit piece, and decidedly more than half EMPTY. You are better that this, and you KNOW better that to try to functionally play the victim card.

Here's an interesting and concise pictorial display.
The South is pretty much a hell-hole.
And yet their right-wing politicians are determined to foist the evil policies and attitudes causing their problems, on the rest of the country.

"Neck-Ain't-Red"

In other words, the poster Hates Rednecks.
Then in a thread titled "Is America becoming a third world country" he declares:

Neck-aint-red wrote:The South is pretty much a hell-hole.

Third World country. Hell Hole. The poster hates more than rednecks. The poster fails to appreciate even the differences between the American South and a third world country... I doubt he has traveled in a third world country. He just HATES.

Where do we begin...

I have linked to a Forbes article which speaks to the poorest 10% of Americans compared to peoples around the world.
You might look into other analyses comparing the poorest 5% of Americans. I leave it to you Hates to WHINE and hate.

That's where we end.

Neck's reference is interesting and confirms my own assessment.

Crux's objection bubbles over with his usual illogic.

Our own little redneck hellhole is not as bad as those in Bangladesh, so that justifies policies that would drag the rest of the US down only as far as our hellhole in the South!

Very weird.

I do not know if Neck or AO can ever grow up.
Mature out of the victim mentality in Neck's case or the Master Mentality in AO'S...

The above link for those of you with NETFLIX. Maybe you would devote 100 minutes to a fine documentary.

Hate. Hell Hole. The South? Know your history... The great pretenders do not.

I just looked at it.
Unbearably tedious.
Perhaps the worst editing job I've ever seen.
And utterly pointless ... I tried, but just could not stomach plowing through this turgid video.
The Koch brothers did not get their money's worth on this one.
(It was produced by their puppet, Freedom Works.)

...otherwise be WISE and consider a perspective that is POWERFULLY SUPPRESSED.
How many minutes AO? 2? Did you make it through 5? I doubt you made it through 3 minutes...

Runaway Slave the movie documentary is a compelling presentation. THIS IS perhaps the most repressed perspective by the political Left in the Country. This truth of black conservatives is dangerous to progressive-so-called-liberals.

Free thinking empowered black conservative liberty loving folks will be a healing to our nation. Mark My Words.

For the record, C.L. Bryant the film maker is a past Chapter President of the NAACP. The film features scores of black conservative voices. There's a fascinating juxtaposition RIGHT IN THE BEGINNING between two rally's on MLK Day in D.C.

One championed by black conservatives and one by black progressives. The film is COMPELLING.

Ouch!

Coondog couldn't get through more than about ten minutes before the urge cropped up to go out and run over some homeless people. About a minute more and thoughts of suppressing the votes of little old ladies via second amendment processes became almost irresistable. Only a few self induced raps to the cranium with a claw hammer dispelled the notion of abolishing government altogether in favor of fiefdom.

Took about an hour more before the powerful subliminal messaging and the desire for a cup of oolong wore off.

It is not recommended that anyone attempt to watch this stuff without someone from Ghost Hunters there to filter out hypnotic suggestions from alternative universes and perhaps an exorcist on standby.

Coondog

Out, damned spot! :hammer:

This is where the Left CONSTANTLY mis-states the conservative position.
No Conservative wants to "abolish government".

That is the stuff of the Anarchist Left. Again, it is about appropriate constitutionally correct government.

In the vein of The U.S. Constitution??? You know, decentralized LOCAL control, entrepreneurial experimental 50 different State Governments, more REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT? The exact opposite of TOP DOWN one size fits all dumbed down bureaucratic BIG central state planning government from on high in D.C.

The FACT, that Coondog and AO can not get through and CONSIDER these black voices speaks volumes. The SCORES of heavy duty words and real life experiences and WISDOM in this film is a threat to the Socialist/State-ist foot soldier...

Words of idiocy from a few people who happen to have black faces, are still idiotic.

What words of Idiocy, Hates?

You should cite AN example. Can you? Are you just a know nothing? What's the most idiotic thing said???

Thanks again, Coondog. If we can't smile at this nonsense, there's nothing left but despair -- or self-destructive rage.

We've met the enemy, and it's us -- not that infinitely vague "them" that's trying to destroy "our way of life." There aint no them. Just us. And in this county there are plenty of us that could use some help.

So just stop moaning and go help somebody. Or at least, like the Dog, help them laugh at the state "us" is in.

SAD REALLY

Postby Crux » 2014 Mar 22 19:41

One of the marks the Left likes to point to that might support a negative economic reality in our Country is the difference between rich and poor. Income inequality. All those fat cats that pay capital gains. Then they in the same breath SUPPORT and cheer-lead OH-BAH-MAH!!! The wealth gap yadda yadda... OK. Do a little research on this forum. Search "QE3". You will see, crux, crux, crux, and more CRUX! I have been ON TARGET and the :pompom: :pompom: :pompom: Just keep on cheerleading!! It is COMICAL how I and the Tea Party get run down in this topsy turvey Rockbridge Forum world.

Sad really...

AGAIN, I point out the FAILURE of QE3, Quantitative Easing 3? I have tried to inform you that Obama's policies are NOT HELPING AMERICANS in general. Here is an interesting chart that shows THE WIDEST GAP since the Roaring 20s!!!

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-03-2 ... ent-admits

ONE DAY, you will have to admit to BLIND PREJUDICE when it came to the Tea Party. WE ARE the power to the people.

Spring has Sprung Eternal

Postby Crux » 2014 Mar 23 10:31

Sap has been running for a while, ends of maple branchlets turning red, buds are full to busting, and spring started OFFICIALLY two days ago at least... crux doesn't take a break. This stuff is important. We come to this world knowing nothing. Some stay content to know what they know and think it WISE. Some of us go full circle again and again...

Like the Seasons changing. We come around again to basic truth and wisdom. We do not cheapen worthy concepts.

Crux......yours is really a sad statement. The best kind of life is a balanced life. Otherwise, we run the grave risk of becoming a "one note". And who the heck wants to spend time with a one note. If the only thing I ever do is work, then I am not able to think or talk about anything else in this world but work. Same goes with politics and what passes for news in this country. If that is all one engages in, then that is all one becomes capable of talking about. How boring and limiting it is to be a one note.

Yes, the issues of the day are important. But they are not the be all, end all of living in this world. I can do my part to make things better but I surely cannot fix everything by roping myself to a computer day in and day out. I can do more good by being out in the world practicing random acts of kindness and sesnseless acts of beauty.

Life is short......too short. There are books to be read, movies to be seen, flowers to plant, berries to pick, cakes to bake, and loads of love and laughter to be shared with those close to us.

it is sad......so very sad that you seem to think that roping yourself to a computer and to this forum will somehow change the world into something that fits your personal narrative. The funny thing is that by doing what you're doing, you've lost your narrative just as you've lost yourself. You have becopme a one note. Sad......as I do believe the rest of us are striving for the complete concerto.

Excellent Post Fangz. Thank you. I agree with your statement on balance. I am not "chained" to this Forum. I do not think I will change the world. I am simply enjoying the debate. Challenging those who see things differently. I wish you could maintain your tone, as exemplified in your above post. Thanks.

I wish you could point out how my statement is "sad" or doesn't respect "balance". I think it does. I respect the FULL CIRCLE. The balanced view of all that is around us. Very much. What is the "sad" thing I said? I know the view of the Left very well. It is funny to me to be labeled a corporatist, or Christian, or right winger. These labels are PROJECTIONS of assumed stereotypes.

Keep up the effort. I PREDICT, you are simply having a "good day". I hope it ends up a good week, month, and year.

Cheers

When the levers of Federal Administrative power are levied IDEOLOGICALLY against Americans for example by the IRS you have a problem.

Louis Lerner was held in CONTEMPT of CONGRESS today.
