Selfishness ... It's Really the Only Thing Donald Trump Does

Immediately after the election Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller explained that Melania would be staying in New York because there was "obviously a sensitivity to pulling out a 10-year-old in the middle of the school year".

We have since learned that the cost of security for Melania and Barron to remain at Trump Tower is $183 million/year. There is also no indication that they will actually move to DC this summer. So in essence the Federal government is giving the Trump family a $183 million annual voucher so Barron can attend the elite private prep school of his choice.

Meanwhile, we learned last night that Trump's budget would completely eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. The NEA, with an annual budget of only $148 million, is able to provide seed money for arts programming in literally every Congressional district in the country.

So, on the one hand you have a $183 million school voucher for a single 10-year-old at an elite private school. On the other hand you have a program that impacts arts and cultural programming throughout the entire nation.

PS. Mrs. Obama's husband is no longer in office. And he did not want to completely eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.

PPS. We'll see what you send, but I shudder at its probable inaccuracy/exaggeration.

Lies, Fake News, inaccuracies, just all-around BS...take your pick. Once again you cite incorrect information. Whether it is intentional (lies) or just bad sources (fake news) is irrelevant.

on days when Mr. Trump is not in the city, the department estimates that it costs $127,000 to $146,000 a day “to protect the first lady and her son while they reside in Trump Tower.” On days when Mr. Trump is in New York City — he has not yet returned since his inauguration — the Police Department anticipates “an average daily rate of $308,000.”

That would come out to about $50 million a year if Mr. Trump avoided returning to Manhattan, or just over $60 million if he began returning on weekends.

Based on the figures O’Neill included in his letter, it would cost between $46,355,000 and $53,290,000 a year to provide security for Melania and Barron Trump alone at Trump Tower, substantially lower than Chapman’s prediction.

So what? I am enthralled that we finally have a President willing to stand up to the self-serving Government entities that waste taxpayers money for their own interests. Why should American taxpayers pay for a program that:

1. Encourages disrespect for our flag and those who have fought and died for it.
Last summer, the Phoenix Art Museum, a recipient of NEA funding, presented an exhibit featuring: an American flag in a toilet, an American flag made out of human skin, and a flag on the museum floor to be stepped upon. Fabian Montoya, an 11-year-old boy, picked up the American flag to rescue it. Museum curators replaced it,

2. Promotes pornography and indecency.
According to The Washington Times, the NEA granted $25,000 to Fiction Collective 2, which featured works containing sexual torture, incest, sadomasochism, and child sex; the "excerpts depict a scene in which a brother-sister team rape their younger sister, the torture of a Mexican male prostitute and oral sex between two women."36 Pat Trueman, former Chief of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division, characterized the works as "troubling" and said the NEA posed a "direct threat to the prosecution" of obscenity and child pornography because of its official stamp on such material

the NEA gave $112,700 over three years to "Women Make Movies," which subsidized distribution of films including:

"Ten Cents a Dance," a three-vignette video in which "two women awkwardly discuss their mutual attraction." It "depicts anonymous bathroom sex between two men" and includes an "ironic episode of heterosexual phone sex."
"Sex Fish" portrays a "furious montage of oral sex, public rest-room cruising and...tropical fish," the catalog says.
"Coming Home" talks of the "sexy fun of trying to fit a lesbian couple in a bathtub!"
"Seventeen Rooms" purports to answer the question, "What do lesbians do in bed?"
"BloodSisters" reveals a "diverse cross-section of the lesbian [sadomasochistic] community."

Three other films center on the sexual or lesbian experiences of girls age 12 and under. "These listings have the appearance of a veritable taxpayer-funded peep show

3. Wastes Money.
Author Alice Goldfarb Marquis estimates that approximately half of NEA funds go to organizations that lobby the government for more money.52 Not only has the NEA politicized art, but because federal grant dollars are fungible, they can be used for other purposes besides the support of quality art. In addition, approximately 19 percent of the NEA's total budget is spent on administrative expenses-an unusually high figure for a government program.

If you want shitty programs like this to be supported than by all means, you and others like you should contribute to this abhorrence. But it smells of elitism and snobbery for you to insist that the government force others to pay for programs that only affect a small minority of people. Most people would rather keep their money to spend to improve their family's lives rather than have the government coerce them to have to pay for a small group's benefit.
Sawers argues that "those who finance the subsidies through taxes are likely to be different from and poorer than those who benefit from the subsidies.

This is what happened yesterday when a truly smart, good person answers questions posed by a creep who only thinks he is smart.

And here's emphatic and correct analysis of the abyss that lies between honor and Trump.

Every day we wake up to a new horror emanating from the evil buffoon that is Donald Trump. It's as if he wakes up every morning and asks, "What can I break today that will hurt the most people, and why doesn't everybody bow down before me in adulation to kiss my feet?"

Here is today's. He is putting us all in jeopardy.

It is literally true that our lives are in danger with Trump in charge. Using his favorite word, it applies best to himself ... DISASTER.

I feel your pain.

With the appointment of a Special Counsel, our would-be-dictator is going to have his hands full.

The central characters in bringing a showdown to Trump have been there before, and acquitted themselves wonderfully in heading off Dick Cheney when he attempted a truly awful subversion of the rule of law.

I wish them success and hope for restoration of a functioning government that works for all of us instead of a few oligarchs.

And there's this gem from Doonsbury, in Donald Trump's own words, quoted verbatim.

I still support him Amy, and none off those seven things apply to me or any of the people I know who also still support him.
The people that I know who don't support him are bigger ass h--es than they say he is.

Wow.

Here's a leader of his country, standing up to Putin with courage and moral toughness, protecting his country from foreign interference.

You will never see such courage in our disgraceful Donald Trump.

Every day, in every way, Donald Trump rises and asks himself,
"What defenseless person can I poke in the eye today, and where's the sharpest stick?"
"And why doesn't everybody love me?"
"The attacks will stop only when everybody loves me, loves me, loves me!"

This is a sadly realistic assessment of the prospects for impeachment of Donald Trump.

At some point, however, even craven and cynical Republicans will have had enough of this monster.
